BRTC Glossy BB Cream

BRTC Glossy BB Cream

From www.skinami.co.kr:

Feature:
This dual functioning BB cream delivers the natural plant substances effectively to the skin and improves the uneven skin tone while firming generally with the functions of whitening and wrinkle decline.

The soft and smooth BB cream presents a naturally glossy look with sparkling pearl as if the skin is filled with moisture.

Main Ingredients:
Centella Asiatica Extract, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Melia Azadirachta Extract, Platycodon Grandiflorum Root Extract, Polygala Tenuifolia Root Extract, green tea extract, Allantoin, Tocopheryl Acetate

Directions for Use:
At the last stage of basic skincare, apply a proper amount of the Gold Caviar BB Cream to the whole face or the desired part evenly.

Size:
40ml

Order of use:
Perfect Protect 46 or UV White Sun Protection Balm-> One of the Perfect Protect System’s Balm’s -> Glossy BB Cream -> UV White Sun Protection Pact or BB Sun Pact

My Skin Type:
Actually very oily, but surpressed with BHA exfoliator. Results in generally ranging from very dry to normal/dry skin. Generally dehydrated, very sensitive, and acne prone.

My Skin Tone:
Some said I have very fair, Casper-ish complexion. Frankly speaking, that’s what you see in my FOTDs, but I personally think I look (much) darker in person than in those photos. Still, yes, I’m quite fair.

Bottomline: my skintone range is lighter than MAC NC/NW15 to NC/NW20.

I have neutral cool undertone.

Packaging:
Portable silvery plastic tube with small opening. Hygienic, portable, and easy to dispense the right amount of product.

Color Selection:
Like most BB cream, it’s only available in 1 color, which is rather medium/dark. I think this will suit NC/NW30 and above.

I’m not sure about the undertone. It seems to me that the undertone is neutral/pink though.

Texture:
Slightly thick, but there is some slip.

Coverage:
Sheer!

Blendability:
I have no problem applying this on top of sunscreen/primer. It’s not thin, but it goes pretty smoothly :)

Finish:
Truly illuminating. It’s glowy, but not too much for me. And I’m quite shimmer-phobe.

Oil Control/Lasting Power:
At the moment I don’t have problem with excessive oilies, so it stays well.

My General Review:
The name made me run in the opposite direction. Glossy? Who would want a glossy, disco ball complexion for daily wear? Thankfully, what Korean refer to ‘Glossy’ does translate to the word ‘highlighting’ and ‘illuminating’. And yes, the finish is very similar to my highly raved Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer!

Putting the color match aside, while I love Stila better in terms of texture (seems thinner and have more slip) and its built in SPF15 as an extra, BRTC Glossy campaigned that it got some skincare ingredients. I see some antioxidants like Grapefruit, Green Tea, and Vitamin E in the ad. Skin calmer too, like Allantoin. Centella asiatica for antibacterial and wound healing purposes. I don’t have the complete ingredient list to make sure they’re really in there at potential concentration, but usually BRTC BB creams do sport some impressive ingredients. Usually after use of BRTC BB creams, my skin will look brighter and more even toned. Softer to the touch too.

The main problem for me is the color match :( It’s not as fair as some of BRTC BB creams (like the old BRTC Soothing BB Cream or BRTC Jasmin Water BB Cream).  So it’s clearly much too dark for me :( I think it may be more suitable for ladies with NC/NW30 and above.

What Else You Need To Know:
From the usage direction given in BRTC’s official website, I see that they intended this stuff as a highlighter on top of other BB Cream.

It won’t work for me because of the dark color; but hey, a highlighter with some skincare properties? It does sound rather impressive to me :P

Application:
I use this like a tinted moisturizer. After moisturizer and sunscreen, I’ll just pat it in using fingers and blend with a cosmetic sponge.

Price:
KRW39,000 for 40ml. Sounds quite expensive! Even higher price point than the BRTC Jasmin Water BB Cream.

Availability:
Not available directly in Indonesia. I usually order directly to Korea, but some selection of BRTC product is available at Watsons Singapore.

Ingredients:
No full ingredient list written in the box :( At least one in English.

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5. This has the potential, but the color match is all wrong for me. Personally, I prefer Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer SPF15 for this kind of effect, but if you have medium/deep skin tone and love glowy look, I recommend this product!

Yes I’m back!! Soo sad I had to leave Singapore and get back to crowded, messy, dirty, polluted Jakarta :(

Of course, I hauled a bit there :D But in the mean time, I’ll just gonna post up my previous haul :P It’s from BRTC, Etude House, and of course, Stila!

Boxes!

Boxes!

Yup….majority of the boxes came from our BRTC order, and you can see some Etude House brushes on the bottom right. I’ve tried their stippling brush and I can tell you, it’s awesome. Worth the price, most definitely!

The Stila haul is on the bottom center. Remember when I said that I’m waiting for more Stila items? Yup, it’s them. Partly :D Closer look at those new baby later!

*All Etude House spree items has been mailed last week. Participants should already received their order.

*Half of the BRTC spree items has been mailed last week. I’m gonna pick up the slack and mail the rest on Tuesday. It’s Independence Day tomorrow, so mail courier will be closed.

I got a lot of queries on the progress of the spree. Well, half of the items arrived (much) later than expected since the customs inspection took a long time and then they decided to held the items and I had to pay some duties/taxes.

I’ve taken care of that this morning, but haven’t got the time to open up all the packages and check and match it with the orders (I’m in the office right now), but I guess I won’t be able to do that super quickly since I got some trip plans scheduled.

I skipped the conference even though my paper made it into final selection. I asked my (previous) Head of School to present it, so I don’t have to go to Surabaya early this week :P At least my name is on the paper..

But I’m forced to go to Bali tomorrow. It’s division outing program; I refused to go but in the end some people (who already pay) canceled their plane ticket so they put me in as the substitute.

I’ll be back from Bali at August 10, but I’ll go again to Singapore on August 13 for a short weekend trip.

So there’s a possibility that I won’t be able to update the blog every so often for these 2 weeks. Rest assured that I’ll still try process the packages as soon as possible.

*Sob. I hate airplanes.

Main Ingredients:
Hyaluronic acid, Swiss Alpine Herb Extract, Deep sea Mineral Water, Marine Collagen, licorice root extract

Directions for Use:
After face washing in the morning and evening, refine the skin texture with Aqua Rush Fluid and absorb Aqua Rush Serum generally. Then apply a small amount of Aqua Rush Gel evenly and softly finish with Caviar Nutrive Cream.

Size:
30ml

Order of use:
Aqua Rush Fluide -> Aqua Rush serum -> Aqua Rush Gel -> Caviar Nutrive Cream

My Thoughts:

From the description I derive that it’s a whitening/brightening serum for all skin types, maybe leaning more towards drier skin because it boasts the moisturizing ability and recommends it to be paired with Caviar Nutritive Cream, which sounds rich :P

But upon testing it, I feel it’s more suitable for oilier skin! I used this when I was dry, and I didn’t even get enough hydrating help from this serum. On the other hand, BRTC Green Tea Serum, which is marketed toward oily-yet-dehydrated skin, moisturizes well on me, and it really helps plumping up my skin. Even weirder, many ladies with oily skin also love Ice Green Tea serum as it moisturizes without making the skin oily!

So I decided to let this go…and keep BRTC Ice Green Tea Serum instead, since it seems more appropriate for my skin. But I’ve read great reviews on this serum on FashioneseDaily forum, especially from oily skinned ladies. So don’t fret; it’s just my personal preference.

My recommendation is, if you have very oily skin, you can opt for BRTC Aqua Rush line to hydrate and brighten your skin. If you have oily-yet-dehydrated skin or dry skin, maybe you can pick the BRTC Ice Green Tea line. FYI, Ice Green Tea line also claims to help moisturize and brighten your skin.

Confusing? Indeed….BRTC is a nice brand but I feel there’s so much duplication across the line.

Or is it just maybe because I don’t read/understand Korean? :P

BRTC V Shaping Ampoule

BRTC V Shaping Ampoule

This is review on behalf of my mother; age 55+ with dry skin.

I gave her this serum and she uses it nightly before moisturizer. After several weeks, both of us can really see improvements.

Previously, her skin looks rough, with open pores on the sides of her nose. Big open pores. This serum really enhances that. Her skin looks plump and is much smoother. She also said that it makes her skin feels so tight (in a good way) every morning. Since there are no ingredients in this world that can really lift sagging skin permanently, I don’t really care about this part though :P

The serum is very fluid, and my mother is someone who really despises sticky products. She has said that this serum absorbs really nicely without sticky residue.

Me myself don’t use this serum, because upon sniffing it, for me it smells sharp. Like alcohol. Does this product contain alcohol? I don’t know since full ingredient is not listed in the box :( At least not in English. Since my mother doesn’t care about whatever ingredients in cosmetics, she continues to use this.

She’s seeing results, that’s what matter to her :P

The problem with makeup-friendly girlfriends? Well, the boyfriends will have to carry home some custom purchased items :P

These pics were sent by my bf this morning. He spends his weekdays in Singapore to work, and get back to Jakarta for weekends around one or twice a month. Of course, this is convenient since I like to ship my hauls and spree items to Singapore rather than bribe-prone-customs of Indonesia.

The result?

Suitcase....Filled With Skincare Products :P

Suitcase....Filled With Skincare Products :P

As you can see it’s almost filled to the brim, so he can’t take this back to Jakarta this weekend:

Stila Box

Stila Box

That’s what I meant by 3-kgs-Stila-box-that-can’t-fly home :P The whole box contain Stila. LE Makeup bag, LE makeup traincase, and some Stila products :D

Wow, they’re much bigger than MSI Wind! :P

BRTC is considered a rather high end Korean brand. I’ve tried several and I think it’s highly effective in smoothing out my skin texture and hydrates without being oily. Of course, I only tried a bit of their product for dry skin, but ladies in FashioneseDaily forum also raves about this brand.

Happy Shopping!

Rumours are circulating that one of the most popular BB cream from BRTC is being discontinued. Is it true? I don’t know, honestly. But lately I’ve seen a new BB cream from BRTC that seems to be the new version of BRTC Perfect Recover.

BRTC Blemish Recover Balm

BRTC Blemish Recover Balm

It’s priced at KRW28,000 for 40ml. Reasonably priced, I think.

This BB cream is released with a series called “Trouble Clinic Line”. Am I seeing a new packaging for BRTC Blemish Potion? And there’s a new SPF35 oil controlling sunscreen too.

BRTC Trouble Clinic Line

BRTC Trouble Clinic Line

Anyone grabbed these yet? :D

BRTC Jasmin Water BB Cream SPF30

BRTC Jasmin Water BB Cream SPF30

From The Box:
It is a triple function BB cream with whitening, wrinkle decline, and sun blocking that presents brilliant skin tone while providing moisture through containing Jasmin water.

Packaging:
Lavender plastic tube with silver metal cap. Practical, easy to use, and travel-friendly. You can’t see how much is left though, but I think it’s better to have light-impermeable packaging.

Color Selection:
Just one, like many BB creams. It suits my fair skintone pretty well.

Texture:
Quite liquid, similar to BRTC Soothing BB cream.

Coverage:
Sheer-medium, it won’t cover major discoloration, just evens out skintone nicely.

Blendability:
Due to the thin consistency, blendability is very good!

Finish:
Semi-matte. It’s not super radiant, but is not flat matte either.

Oil Control:
What’s important is to use suitable skincare for my skintype at the moment.

When my skin is dry, I use very hydrating skincare, and this BB cream seems to help hydrating my skin even more, without getting oily.

When my skin is much oilier is the T-zone, I use lighter serum/moisturizer, and it stayed fresh for hours without being oily.

My General Review:
I first got a sample jar of this from a friend. In fr3b, this BB cream seems to be the highest rated of all BRTC BB cream.I was reluctant to get the full size however, because I saw in the BRTC website that it contains 5% Jasmine water. Jasmine water is a potential irritant, you know? Better safe than sorry.

But as it turns out, this is definitely one of my favorite BB cream. I don’t find it irritating. The texture is pleasant, I love the finish too. It seems to help my skin to appear smoother. Good oil control, without being drying or oily. The color matches well too, since it’s on the fair side. It’s slightly more yellow than most BB cream, but it melts nicely with my skin. As a bonus, I think it helps drying out my acne!

The only possible downside, maybe is the sun protection. It claims to be SPF30, but unlike other BRTC BB cream with SPF, Jasmin doesn’t list a PA rating. Which leads me to believe that this item may not have UVA protection.

Well, I always wear sunscreen first though, so for me it’s a bit minor issue.

Price:
It’s BRTC, so it’s quite expensive. KRW29,000 for 40ml.

Availability:
BRTC is mostly available online, but if some countries (like Singapore) has already stocks this in drugstores like Guardians or Watsons.

I bought mine off Gmarket, so I paid retail price in Korea. Excluding shipping of course.

Ingredients:
Sigh. Even after I own the full size tube, the ingredient list is still not there. At least not one written in English though :(

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5. Great BB cream, one of my favorite for its smooth, natural finish.
