Bobbi Brown Overnight Cream

Bobbi Brown Overnight Cream

From www.macys.com:
This rich, restorative cream hydrates, de-stresses and helps repair skin’s appearance while you sleep. Ideal for anyone looking for a technologically advanced repair product for nighttime use. Dermatologist tested.

  • Comforts: The relaxing scent of Lavender Extract calms and refreshes.
  • Hydrates: Sweet Almond Oil helps skin maintain natural moisture levels.
  • Repairs: An advanced Protein Activator helps boost natural collagen production to help reduce the look of fine, dry lines. Milk Thistle Extract plumps, firms and smoothes tired skin.

My Skin Type:
Actually very oily, but surpressed with BHA exfoliator. Results in generally ranging from very dry to normal/combo skin. Generally dehydrated, very sensitive, and acne prone.

Packaging:
Heavy glass jar that is painted white so it’s opaque. But the jar won’t preserve the advanced ingredients such as Green Tea. I think they should use a tube, at least. Even pump bottle is possible for this product, due to the light texture.

Texture:
Light cream. Very easy to be spread and is non greasy.

My General Review:
A well formulated moisturizer from a brand that seems more to excel in makeup? It doesn’t sound very likely.

But what about if the brand is owned by Estee Lauder? Which happens to be the foremost in making advanced moisturizer. At least in my opinion :P And I think EL spread its recipe across several of its brands.  The result is: a great moisturizer in the name of Bobbi Brown :D

I started to find interest in Bobbi Brown moisturizers when a couple of friends was raving about their Vitamin Enriched Face Base. At that time, my skin has swing back toward normal/dry, as oppose to the previously combination/oily state; so I needed a new moisturizer. Luckily I found some ingredient lists for BB moisturizers in MakeupAlley, bless those kind souls! In the end I decided to take this Overnight Cream along with Protective Face Lotion SPF15; but that’s another review for another time :D

So I have begun to use this nightly, and I instantly love it from the first application. It feels pretty rich but sinks in quickly and leaves my skin very soft and smooth with no oily residue. In the morning, my skin looks more hydrated. It’s plumper, and….it makes my pores smoother! Nice feat! My skin doesn’t look exactly calmer or anything, but it’s not irritated. There are a handful of nice ingredients in here like antioxidants and cell-communicating ingredients, but I’m not sure if they’re working or not since the jar packaging will render those precious goodies useless in quite a fast manner.

Bottomline, I appreciate the great ingredients, but I hope they put them in a secure packaging. So I only use this mainly as a hydrator, and it works quite well in that regard. It’s best when my skin is more normal though. Slightly dry, or slightly oily. Because it will be too heavy when my skin is oilier (been there, tried that). And it’s not moisturizing enough when my skin is very dry.

What Else You Need To Know:
Despite the name, this cream can be used in broad daylight, I assure you. It’s just that I prefer something lighter for day.

There’s lavender in this product which my skin usually despise, but so far there hasn’t been any sign of irritation. Hopefully because it’s not present in large amount so it’s not potent enough to make my skin angry.

Application:
I apply this on top of my usual antioxidant serum.

Availability:
Here, Bobbi Brown is available in Grand Indonesia; but I never even set foot in there :D Simply because I very rarely go to GI. I bought mine in Singapore, where Bobbi Brown is quite ubiquitous.

Price:
US$65 for 50ml. In my book, that’s quite expensive! :P

Ingredients:
Water, Jojoba seed oil, Cetyl Esters, Butylene Glycol, Petrolatum, Shea butter, Rapeseed Seed Oil, Peg-40 Sterate, Glyceryl Sterate, Cetyl Alcohol, Olive Fruit Oil, Mulberry Root Extract, Apricot Kernel Oil, Green Tea Leaf Extract, Silybum Marianum Extract, Pyrus Malus Fruit Extract, Birch Extract, Stearyl Alcohol, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Sweet Almond Oil, Acetyl Glucosamine, Avocado Oil, Caffine, Steareth-2, Micrococus Lysate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Lecithin, Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sucrose, Glycerin, Ceramide2, Linoleic Acid, Oryzanol, Methyldihydrojasmonate, Retinyl Palmitate, Cholesterol, Sodium Hyalurate, C1-8 Alkyl Tetrahydroxycyclohexanoate, Dimeticone, Lavender, Caprylyl Glycol, Malthodextrin, Sodium Carbomer, Hexylene Glycol, BTH, Linalool, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Patassium Sorbate

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5. Nice moisturizer, light in texture but quite hydrating. Shame on the packaging though. At this price I think I deserve to get a functional and protective packaging.

Mini Bobbi Haul

Mini Bobbi Haul

Bobbi Brown, instead! It’s small, only contains 2 moisturizers and a palette. I got them all from Singapore.

Mini Bobbi Haul

Mini Bobbi Haul

Protective Face Lotion SPF15 and Overnight Cream, for my day and night moisturizer, respectively. My skin swings toward drier side lately, so I’ve been needing something richer than Clinique DDMG, but not as moisturizing as my Superdefense SPF25 for Very Dry skin.

I’ve tried those 2 Bobbi skincare, and so far so good :) Hope to review them soon!

And the other one is my one and only BB palette. Velvet Plum Metallics LE from some year ago :) Smooth and silky and shimmery. And pigmented to boot.

Bobbi name seems to be a guarantee of quality. I’ve tried several of their items and all are top notch!

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF15

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF15

From www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com:
A truly modern foundation: Skin Foundation SPF 15 offers invisible, weightless coverage that looks like skin, not makeup. This long-wearing formula evens tone, minimizes the appearance of pores, conceals imperfections, and offers broad spectrum UV protection. Its hydrating technology leaves skin feeling cushioned, comfortable, and clean. Ideal for all skin types. Works beautifully when used in combination with Face Touch Up Stick. Available in our full range of 17 shades.

Bobbi Tip: Want more coverage? Simply follow with a repeat application. The coverage is buildable.

My Skin Type:

Actually very oily, but surpressed with BHA exfoliator. Results in generally ranging from very dry to normal/dry skin. Generally dehydrated, very sensitive, and acne prone.

My Skin Tone:
Some said I have very fair, Casper-ish complexion. Frankly speaking, that’s what you see in my FOTDs, but I personally think I look (much) darker in person than in those photos. Still, yes, I’m quite fair.

Bottomline: my skintone range is lighter than MAC NC/NW15 to NC/NW20.

I have neutral cool undertone.

Packaging:
Glass bottle with plastic pump and cap.

Color Selection:
To my assumption, all Bobbi Brown colors are yellow toned with the exception of the fairest: Alabaster. I’ve never seen it but I guess that it will match my skin well.

Texture:
Standard liquid foundation. Not thick, but not runny either.

Coverage:
Sheer-medium. It will even out your skin tone, but it will not hide major discoloration.

Blendability:
Good! It has enough slip. It’s easy to blend.

Finish:
Semi-matte? Very much like natural, healthy skin.

Oil Control:
Not a problem on my combination skin. It doesn’t make my t-zone oilier. I need to touch up around lunch time, that’s standard to any good foundation/TM/BB cream.

My General Review:
This is the latest of BB foundation, and I have my eyes on it ever since. The claim sounds so good, plus it has SPF. I checked MUA too, and even though it’s relatively new, there’s tons of reviews; mostly good reviews.

Then dear seisycka came back from her holiday and bought this, LOL! The super kind lady generously offered to send me a sample. The color was 2.0 Warm Sand, obviously too dark for me, but I wanna try it anyway :P

I know BB is big on yellow toned foundation but boy, is Warm Sand very yellow! I was really afraid it will make me look jaundiced, but to my surprise it’s not! It’s darker than my skin, but it looks natural. Therefore I’m somehow really confident the Alabaster color will match my pale skin :P

At the moment my skin condition is really challenging. Tons of red post acne marks. Very dull. Slightly oily T-zone. Normal/dry cheeks. Active cystic acne. Big pores around the nose. Ugh!

The wonderful news is: Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF15 stayed true to its claim. It makes the best of my skin. Of course it won’t make it flawless; it’s impossible in this condition. But it evens out my skin tone, minimize redness, minimize the look of pores. It gives slight satin glow that makes my skin look healthy. SPF15 is not major but it’s better than nothing too.

It stays well. No blotchy/cakey look in the oily area. No oxidation.

Overall I love this! It reminds me of MUFE Face&Body Liquid though. I still have MUFE Face&Body Liquid so I may not repurchase BB Skin Foundation SPF15 in the near future.

Sun Protection:
I don’t know if 1% Titanium Dioxide in this foundation can provide enough sun protection. But with no other UVA-protecting filter present, this foundation leaves the whole UVA I gap.

UV Protection Diagram: Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF15

UV Protection Diagram: Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF15

It’s a foundation, so for me it’s better than nothing. I don’t use foundation much, so it will not provide good protection anyway. You should always use minimum 1/3 teaspoon of sunscreen for your face only.

Application:
I apply this using my fingers after my skincare routine. Buff using MAC #187 SE. After it’s absorbed, I give a once-over using cosmetic sponge to ensure even, smooth finish.

I always set this with loose powder.

Price:
Expensive, I think. US$45 for 30ml.

Availability:
Here, Bobbi Brown is available at Harvey Nichols Grand Indonesia. I’ve never checked it though (very rarely go to GI)…Changi airport to the rescue!

What Else You Need To Know:
It’s fragrance free!

Bobbi Brown recommends you to combine this with their new Face Touch Up Stick concealer if you need more coverage. It also got rave reviews in MUA!

Ingredients:
Active Ingredients: Octinoxate 7.50%, Titanium Dioxide 1.00%.

Inactive Ingredients: Water\Aqua\Eau, Methyl Trimethicone, Neopentyl Glycol Diethylhexanoate, Isononyl Isononanoate, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Lauryl PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Hdi/trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Talc, Boron Nitride, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Stearic Acid, Palmtic Acid, Dimethicone, Lecithin, Aluminum Dimyristate, Tocopherol, Myristic Acid, Silica, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Citrate, Sorbic Acid, Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol, [+/- Titanium Dioxide (Cl 77891), Iron Oxides (Cl 77491, Cl 77492, Cl 77499)]

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5. Quality wise, there’s nothing to complain. Great foundation if you have minor imperfections. It evens out skin tone, it works well on pores. Minimize flaws while at the same time improving the overall look to mimic healthy skin. Price is a on the expensive side though. I believe there are some other good foundation with this kind of quality that is a little less pricey.
