This is an update to my previous review of Paula’s Choice Essential Non-Greasy Sunscreen SPF15. Now that I’ve again adjusted my BHA regimen, my skin is back to Normal/Combination, and this suncreen, despite its silky lotion texture, is proven too heavy for my skin
No, it doesn’t break me out, but it’s feels oily, heavy, suffocating, and shiny To top it off, it sometimes balls of my face, and the only stuffs I worn underneath this is Paula’s own antioxidant serum, so I don’t know why that happens. It never happens with my other sunscreens.
I’ll finish my bottle as a body sunscreen, and even my body is dry, on hot and humid skin it still feels somewhat heavy and tacky on my hands/legs. Goodness.
Cutting my rating into 3 out of 5. There are other sunscreens that offers higher UV protection with better texture. For example, Olay Regenerist UV Cream SPF25 got higher Avobenzone percentage and it’s stabilized with Octocrylene, yet sinks in very fast and doesn’t feel too heavy for normal/combination skin, and it does contain yummy base ingredients too. For body, Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch SPF55 offers high, reliable protection…but I have to admit that it doesn’t contains the frills (antioxidant and all) that Paula’s added to her own formula. However, Paula’s Essential Non-Greasy SPF15 is not water-resistant so it’s not good for outdoor use on sweaty summer anyway.
If you’re looking for a SPF15 hand cream for your dry skin that contains antioxidants and everything, or if you have dry skin and primarily in a dry environment (like air-conditioned office), this is for you. I’ll use this one up, and maybe consider other options. I think Paula’s other sunscreen, the Ultra Light SPF30 Spray, is much better than this one Higher protection, great ingredients, beautiful finish.
